After several years of barely touching my bass guitar at all, this year I started playing again and somehow I magically had the ability to figure out and play along with songs. Now I practice a couple of times a week by putting on iTunes Party Shuffle and playing along with whatever comes up. If something is especially fun (like OSCA by Tokyo Jihen), I'll devote a few sessions to getting it right. In other cases, I'll just write down whatever I can make out and then move on. In case anyone is searching for bass tabs of songs by Judy and Mary, Harada Ikuko, clammbon, YUKI, Shiina Ringo, or other such unlikely acts, I've started posting my notes online.
This is the latest in a bunch of cool random associations between musicians I like. Geddy Lee of RUSH invited Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron to play on his solo album, while Pearl Jam lead guitarist Mike McCready has snuck part of RUSH's The Spirit of Radio into his solo when playing in Toronto. Mito from clammbon has produced and played bass for YUKI. The same keyboard guy has played on stage with clammbon and Shiina Ringo. Robert Fripp of King Crimson has played with Peter Gabriel and Tool. And so on, and so on.
What are your top 25 most played songs?

Jeez... Because I tend to listen to albums more than single tracks, my two top albums (both by YUKI) pretty much devoured all 25 slots. Last.fm and iTunes have some disagreement about my top 25, probably because some tracks I listen to on the iPod never make it to last.fm's stats, so this is from iTunes.
